About me
Laura Smith is a dedicated drafting and CAD teacher in Washington County, VA, with 35 years of involvement in Career and Technical Education (CTE). Her journey in CTE began as a student and has evolved over the years to include significant contributions as a business and industry supporter, as well as for the past 20 years, as an educator. Throughout her career, Laura has demonstrated her leadership within Virginia's CTE community, having served in various capacities, including President of VATIE, Virginia ACTE, and the SkillsUSA Virginia Board of Directors, Vice President of Membership for Virginia ACTE, and Virginia ACTE Region II Representative. Laura is particularly passionate about equipping Virginia's Career-Switcher CTE teachers by ensuring they are well-prepared for their classrooms. To address this need, she established the CTE Teacher S.O.S. Program, dedicated to supporting new educators in their transition to teaching.
